Personal Training from First Principles
Say what?
Our bodies adapt and build upon the stress we apply over time, and a good trainer helps guide that process towards the clients goals. The fitness industry is intentionally too complicated, so let's strip that away and focus on what your body does mechanically, how it could improve, and how to build toward that outcome.
Every session is personalized to you.
I teach you the mechanics as we train, so you understand what's happening and why. With an emphasis on Corrective Exercise, we rebuild movement patterns and as consequence our posture restores, breath deepens, and nervous system resolve builds. Expect to leave each session standing taller and feeling more capable.
So, now what? Lean more about me and my approach below, then contact me if you'd like to train together.

Who is this dude?
Well, it's me, Coach Matt . Founder, Principled Training
Certified Personal Trainer (NASM-CPT), Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM-CES)

I bring more than 15 years of experience in coaching individuals in both performance and movement quality. Most recently, I spent a year coaching clients one-on-one at a large commercial gym before opening this studio. My methods come from lived experience as much as from certifications. Movement has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
As a former high jumper and a longtime rock climber, I learned body awareness through sports that demand precision, coordination, and full-body dynamic control. Those years on the track and the cliff gave me a deep understanding of movement, and it shapes how I coach.
You won't get a generic template from me. My approach is built on principles, drawn from experience, and adjusted to the person in front of me.
My real skill is seeing movement: I have a trained eye for movement patterns, under active/over active muscles, and the bodies natural tensegrity. With movement understood, we put together digestible programming to progress towards optimal muscle tone and movement quality.
Its important to know, the body is not just muscle tissue and bone. I have lived with anxiety my whole life. I don't hide it. I've studied it, trained through it, and built practical tools for calming the nervous system into my life and coaching. I know that for many people, getting stronger isn't only about lifting more. It's about coming back into your body, feeling steady, and building strength from there.
Every session is personal. If you want training that goes deeper than reps and routines, and helps you understand how your body works and feels, you're in the right place.
